PSN Opinyon

Dumarami endorsers ni Bong Go

DURIAN SHAKE - Edith R. Regalado - Pilipino Star Ngayon

Alfonso Umali Jr..

“The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) was among the latest groups and even individuals who have thrown their support should Special Assistant to the President Christopher ‘Bong’ Go run for the Senate in next year’s elections.

The support for Go has in a way snowballed since the idea of his running for the Senate was floated last February.

As of March 31, 2017, there are 1,489 municipalities across the country which are also members of the LMP their being classified as municipalities or towns.

The LMP as well as other local or even national executives have passed through Go whenever they want to bring something to the attention of  President Duterte.

“(SAP) Bong Go has provided an important and critical linchpin of coordination, action and programs between the Office of the President and the local government units, more particularly the municipalities,” the LMP said in a resolution last week.

The LMP likewise pointed out that it has noticed Go’s concern and extra effort extended to the local executives and the different constituencies.

“It is in that sense of the LMP that if SAP Bong Go elevated and trusted to hold a higher public position, he can do more service to the public,” the LMP further said.

President Duterte was also the first to egg Go to run for the Senate in next year’s midterm elections after the latter has served him for over 20 years as his closest aide.

“He will surely win as Senator,” the President said.

Presidential daughter and Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has also openly endorsed Go should he give the Senate a run next year.

Several Cabinet Secretaries as well as congressmen and even senators are also pushing Go to run for the Senate in  the May 2019 polls.

But Go has repeatedly said he has not made up his mind yet on the matter and that everything would depend on the President.

On the other hand, Go promised to serve the President as long as he can.”
