In Cebu City, Rizal was ‘killed twice’

Cebu City had a ‘rare’ commemoration of Dr. Jose Rizal’s martyrdom yesterday morning as it reenacted the national hero’s execution twice.

The first reenactment occurred at the exact time of Rizal’s death at Luneta. However, Mayor Michael Rama missed the event. This prompted the organizers to hold another dramatization of Rizal’s death in the presence of the mayor.

“Kaluoy ni Rizal, kaduha na-firing squad,” an Ear informer said.
