Sense of responsibility

ESSENCE - Ligaya Rabago-Visaya - The Freeman

Recently, I received a shared audio message from someone who claimed to have knowledge from the Malacanang Palace about a situation that appears to be a worse scenario, and that people should prepare for such an eventuality. And, of course, the information is unverified, which a government official later denies.

This isn't the first time I've received an untrue message from Facebook friends of friends. And this once again asks for such degree of responsibility. Through social media, distribution of information takes only seconds and it likewise takes exactly the same to be misled by unverified information and most possibly from questionable sources. And we even occasionally yearn to bring back the old ways of relying on information's accuracy, no matter how slow it arrives.

It appears to be commonplace to apologize after spreading false information. Others appear to be unconcerned about the consequences that false information might have on others, therefore a handy excuse that it's just shared knowledge appears to be a common occurrence. Although you may not be the final source of knowledge but the sheer fact that you spread inaccurate information so easily bears the responsibility and realization of not doing it again.

Why bother sharing information if we have to wait for it to be verified? If we are truly concerned about the well-being of others, we must bear the responsibility of validating the facts. We have good intentions, but we don't know what will happen if unconfirmed information becomes public.

We must realize that there is responsibility for every right we have. There is an obligation with every chance. And there is obligation in every possession. As a result, we must exercise every right, opportunity, and possession with a great deal of responsibility for the better good of all.

We can't avoid tomorrow's duty by avoiding today's. We have to confront the implications of what we do today. And be it a lesson for tomorrow that we have to be extra mindful of what we communicate no matter how laudable our intentions and especially much more when we have the voice or control over others for the price of greatness is responsibility.

Responsibility is necessary in order to win and achieve in life. This is a normal aspect of growing up and learning to be responsible for everything around you. We have a responsibility to do and share what we believe would benefit others, and this is what makes our lives genuinely worthwhile.

The fact that humans were not created to play around on this planet must be continually reminded. There's a lot of work to be done. There are responsibilities to be met. Humanity requires the abilities of every man and woman.
