Assured victories and losses

WHAT MATTERS MOST - Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez - The Freeman

I am sorry to say this. While Cebuanos are sure to reelect three competent and committed leaders, Governor Gwen Garcia, Vice Governor Junjun Davide, and Mayor Mike Rama, our informal surveys say that Leni Robredo will win for president in Cebu, and Tito Sotto for vice president. Sorry, Bong Go and sorry Inday Sara. Better luck next time.

In the 1st District, of course, Rhea Gullas, the wife of Talisay City Mayor Samsam, is running unopposed. The couple will focus on Talisay. This vote-rich district, from Talisay City down to Sibonga with three cities of Naga, Carcar, and Talisay, and the towns of Minglanilla, San Fernando, and Sibonga, is predicted to give VP Leni at the very least 45% of the votes. The remaining 55% will be divided among Bong Go, Marcos, Isko, Pacman, and Ping Lacson. The 2nd District, I call ADABOSS or Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, and Samboan will give Leny 65 to 70% because of the Davide leadership, and the rest divided among the five others.

In the 3rd District, from Barili to Asturias, Rep. Pablo John Garcia is unopposed, but his people will have their own choice for president. Leni will win big in Barili, Toledo City, and Balamban, the biggest three in that district. Leni will win 60% of the votes and Pacman will follow because his father was from Pinamungajan and with a lot of P1,000 bills to distribute. The 4th District will be a challenge but VP Leni will have at least 38% to 40% of the votes, and the rest evenly divided. The biggest problem for VP Leni is the 5th District with the Frasco couple supporting Bong Go and Inday Sara. Leni can get only from 28% to 32% in this district.

But Leni will make bawi in the 6th District as well as in the lone district of Mandaue. Combined, this area will give Leni a total of 55% with the rest to be a toss-up between Marcos and Bong Go. Lapu-Lapu will go pink at 75% to 80%. In Cebu City, the north district will give Leni a clear lead with 62% and the rest to be mostly for Bong Go. The south district will be fifty/fifty, with Leni and Bong Go going neck-and-neck, but with the support of the Osmeñas, Leni will win the south. Sorry, Mayor Mike. You will surely win, but not your guy, Bong Go. Governor Gwen, you will have a very clear majority, not just plurality, but not your candidate for president.

My 7th District, which I call DRAMMBAG (Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, Malabuyoc, Badian, Alegria, and Ginatilan) will give Leni the biggest margin of 65% to 75%. Dumanjug will go pink by 80% to 85%. I am very, very sure of this. I won't tell you why. Ask Marna Gica, the Dumanjug mayor's mom. Vice Governor Davide will win in all towns, and in all cities and in all districts. He will even win in the barangay and election precinct of his opponent. Argao and Dalaguete will give Davide 99% of the votes. His reelection is the most forgone conclusion, even accepted by his rival.

The 2nd District and the 7th District will give our favorite son, Junjun, no less than 80% to 88% of the votes. Vice Governor Davide can go abroad and come back on May 10, 2022, already proclaimed reelected. And if he stays and works hard, he will carry Leni to an inevitable resounding victory in Cebu.
