Race to save lives

Sadly, news confirms the presence of the British and South African variants while the world is still coping with the COVID-19 virus --how to contain it and how to save lives.

Will these mutations be faster in transmission? Can the mutations be controlled by present vaccines being administered in various parts of the world?

The British variant, for example, has been reported to spread exponentially! Is this what is happening now in Benguet? Is this new strain already in Baguio and neighboring areas, and elsewhere in the Philippines? Rigorous, reliable research is urgently needed so the variants can be contained soonest and effectively.

The race to contain the virus/variants is a race to save lives!

Many countries have imposed stricter travel regulations to prevent the new variants from entering their borders. Should the Philippines, including Cebu, be proactive as well and early on, do its best to control the entry of the new variants?

Definitely, the race to save people, the race to protect people from the COVID-19 and its variants, the race to contain the virus/variants is urgent!

Governments are required to prepare all constituents in terms of reliable information about the COVID-19 virus and its variants. The public has to be guided about how best to protect themselves, stay safe, and contain the virus.

All have to be mobilized to do their responsible contribution to help contain the virus/variants and save lives, their own as well as the lives of others!

Since the COVID-19 virus and its variants seem to be moving more quickly than the cures, it’s best for all governments, including the one in this country, to move as best and as quickly as they can, united, to fight this urgent race to save lives!

The solution to this pandemic needs the responsible, committed and united involvement of everyone!

Governments should extend their genuine public service for everyone’s welfare with public funds used for public good, not for private gains!

All sectors should be mobilized in an informed and coordinated manner. Shall we try and be amazed soon to see how united personal, group, local, national and global initiatives, partnerships and action, coupled with prayer and faith in God, can contain the virus/variants and restore the world for humanity?

But we need to run the race to fight the virus, to save lives, together, now, not later.

Let’s learn from each other’s experiences. Let our country learn from the proactive racing style and strategy of other nations in their fight to save lives and contain COVID-19.
