THE EAR - The Freeman

The veterinary office of a local government unit announced on Facebook that the law provides that butchering of animals like pigs and cows at home for commercial purposes is prohibited. The office said that these animals had to be killed in the government abattoir to ensure that they pass certain standards, especially on sanitation and safety.

But many netizens slammed the post. “Tan-awa ra gud na ang slaughterhouse kung limpyo ba. Maikog man sad ta ninyo. Mas limpyo pa sa among balay kung adto mi mag-ihaw,” one observer noted. Some netizens, therefore, called for the suspension of the implementation of such law, especially in light of the pandemic.
