Anti-cross anti-Christ

CTALK - Cito Beltran - The Philippine Star

Some devout Catholics have expressed strong words against the proposed bill of a Congressman who wants to make the display or placement crosses or crucifixes in public facilities such as hospitals optional. From what has been shared the Congressman believes that the presence of a cross or crucifix would be religiously disturbing or unwelcomed to non-Catholic patients, therefore these religious objects should be optional perhaps upon request.

As might be expected a number of people don’t have nice things to say about the Congressman especially since he featured very visibly in the denial of the ABS CBN franchise, aside from the fact that he is allegedly a member of a religious sect other than the Catholic Church. The things is, there’s very little info out there to ascertain if the bill is an old one that’s being rehashed or if it is a new one intended to distract people from the growing public displeasure over ABS CBN losing their franchise. That is highly possible because the way the government has mishandled the Covid crisis alongside the ABS CBN franchise, the only thing that could diffuse things would be a distraction of such kind. On the other hand, the proposed bill might simply be an attempt to portray religious zeal among people who don’t believe that Jesus Christ is GOD as Catholics do and who strongly oppose religious symbols as idols or forms of idolatry.

While some people have expressed unbridled hatred and curses against the Congressman, I actually am happy he decided to mess with the practice of displaying crucifixes. At the very least, what he has done is to poke the sleepers among us and made them realize that today’s Congress no longer represent their faith but the individual vested interests of lawmakers, whether it represents their political greed or the assertions of their faith or sect. At least we are now clear that by and large the current Congress is not “of the people” or “for the people”. Truth be told, many of them are “Somebody’s people”. We now realize the wisdom in the suggestion that most if not all partylist groups and representatives should be removed or disenfranchised because they represent vested interests and religious sects, not the poor, not the needy or the unrepresented. Like the “Trapos” they claim to be opposite sides from, many receive funds from donors and have now used their “Numbers” to horse trade and make political deals.

Thanks to the author of the “Anti-Cross” bill as some critics call it, we now realize how true the warnings were as far back as the time of St. Peter, St. Paul and the others who warned us that false prophets and the Anti-Christ would enter into our midst and introduce false doctrines better known as heresy. Even modern day scholars and philosophers have warned us that certain people will try to rewrite doctrine and teaching that will undermine the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. In fact, it was only recently that I heard a talk about the need to defend our faith and beliefs or else someone will rewrite it for us subtly in the beginning then ultimately deny us of it. The anti-establishment rebels of the Johnson-Nixon era ultimately became mentors, professors, leaders who rewrote and taught a different value system to coming generations.

Consider what has happened to the United States of America. Out of respect to non-believers, they went to court and took out prayer and banned praying in schools, they banned the Bible in schools. Out of respect to other faiths and non-believers they banned the display of Crosses and religious symbols, even if it is in your own property. So now they have kids committing mass murders, school shootings, there are government-funded abortions, Terrorist attacks, public display of combat rifles and lewd sexual behavior and same sex marriage. None of it happened overnight, they did it piece-by-piece, state-by-state, and they got it all because people wanted to be fair and non-combative. It happened because people forgot that you have to fight for the things that you value most; your value system and your faith. It happened because people no longer spent time to learn the teachings of their faith and the word of GOD. It happened because people opted to be politically correct, spiritually pushed back against the wall or be silent as lambs while their beliefs got slaughtered by non-believers or heretics.

What’s happened in America has started to take place in the Philippines. Our politicians, in their selfish godless desire for power and election have compromised long held values and religious beliefs. They have compromised our inheritance of godly values both at the national and local level under their claim of enlightenment. They claim to be inclusive yet trample the beliefs and values of the majority. The Anti-Christ is amongst us but it is not Satan himself. He has sufficient representatives in public office whose actions are clearly opposed to Christ and GOD himself. At the moment, we confront and oppose a proposed bill that will make the display of crosses or crucifixes optional or upon request. If we don’t stop such an imposition we will eventually be dealing with a law that says: No Crosses or Crucifixes in public. Then the non-believers will join in and say well if one sect can ban the crosses then we want to ban the Bible in hotels, motels, schools and government buildings hospitals etc. Ten years from there, some heretics and atheists will move to stop prayers during flag ceremonies, conventions and meetings among government employees and officials. Speak up and defend the faith and wear a cross or crucifix. Display the Cross, Express your faith!
