35 cops recover from COVID-19
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has lodged 35 recoveries among its 73 personnel who had contracted the COVID-19 virus, while the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is calling for medical practitioners to man the upcoming PCR laboratory that they are constructing.
CCPO Officer-in-Charge Police Colonel Cydric Earl Tamayo said there are additional three personnel who recovered from the virus last Monday bringing their total recoveries to 35.
The remaining active cases of 38 are still in the recovery center of PRO-7 in Barangay Taptap, Cebu City.
"Ang uban naay symptoms sa ubo-ubo after sa swab nila, pero paspas man ang recovery nila base sa atong health service kay every 14 days which is a mandatory isolation, pag swab sa ila, ma-negative naman," Tamayo told reporters.
Meanwhile, PRO-7 Director Albert Ignatius Ferro is calling for medical practitioners to man the upcoming RT-PCR molecular laboratory in Cebu City.
PNP Chief Francisco Gamboa, during his visit to Cebu City last Wednesday, had directed Gamboa to fast track the construction of the laboratory.
"Kung naay mga pathologist diri sa Cebu na eligible, amo silang i-recruit sa police, mga medtech na gusto para sila na mag-man aning atong RT-PCR. Mga taga Cebu para dali lang ug dili nata magkuha ug mga taga layo nga region," Ferro said.
The construction has started a week ago. The purpose of the laboratory is to secure and check the PNP frontliners with their own laboratory. The PNP has allocated P10 million for the project.
Ferro said they are expecting to finish it in one month, as the laboratory needs to be tested and accredited by the DOH-7 for authorization to function.
"We have created a swabbing area para di nata maglisod kung asa mag-swab para naay secured space," he added.
Ferro added they aimed to prioritize the PNP and other law enforcement agencies in the laboratory. GAN (FREEMAN)
