Trump emerges stronger

TO THE QUICK - Jerry S. Tundag - The Freeman

Slapped silly by an impeachment trial they knew could result in only one way, the Democrats in the US Congress, cheered on by their media friends, try to salvage face by bravely declaring it is on to November, when they say the real battle against Donald Trump will take place. It is also when the Republicans will clobber them even more convincingly than in 2016.

Since day one of the Trump presidency, Democrats, liberals, and other strange creatures refused to give the duly-elected American president a chance, thereby rejecting the legitimate product of an American process to which everyone freely submitted, including the Democrats, liberals, and other strange creatures themselves.

Trump's critics and enemies cannot claim to have freely participated in the 2016 elections without expecting a different result. Submitting to the American process thinking Hillary Clinton can soundly thump Trump had been an easy proposition. Coming to grips with the unexpected result proved so much more difficult. It drove every anti-Trump nut nuts with a four-year unscratchable itch.

They belittled, demeaned, demonized, and slandered Trump his every waking day and into his God-knows-what nights. So preoccupied were they at licking their collective wounded pride that they forgot to factor in one crucial element in this sordid drama called American politics. And it is that Trump did not arrogate himself into the Oval Office.

Trump did not just walk into the White House one blustery January day to lay claim to being the most powerful man in the world. He is where he is on official mandate from the American people, by way of a complicated system found nowhere else in the world that while Clinton did get the popular vote, it was Trump who must sit by way of an overwhelming win in the Electoral College vote.

The American electoral vote system essentially gives a louder voice to states with larger populations. So it cannot be said that more people voted for Clinton if Trump can claim taking the larger states. If Trump is at all a mistake, then don't blame him, blame the system. And while doing it, do not forget what I said earlier, that everyone freely submitted to that system until the results came out different.

Russia? That is just sour-graping by a bunch of poor losers. Russia did not hijack the American electoral system. It did not hack into computers to manipulate the count. It simply invested in American advertising, one of the prime movers of Capitalism. If some Americans sucked up the Russian message, since when is gullibility the fault of the messenger?

Let's face it. The Democrats just did not have the goods in 2016 and neither do they have it in 2020. If Democrats, liberals, and other strange creatures failed in their historic chance to put the first woman president into office after making history with the first black one, how can they expect to even just win against a Trump made stronger by an America angered by the disrespect shown their mandated president?
