Climate change – Fact or horror scenario?

READERS' VIEWS - The Freeman

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in its Fifth Assessment Report of 2014 predicts:

Alimentary insecurity in southern countries, less water for the agriculture, poverty increase, social conflicts, inundations and erosions, sanitarian problems, increased risks of extinction.

All this only because of a global temperature increase of 2% above preindustrial levels if greenhouse gas emissions are not checked soon.

Sources of greenhouse gases emission in 2010, carbon dioxide in particular, were due to the Energy sector: 35 %, Agriculture and forestry: 24 %, Industry: 21 % Transport: 14 % and the building sector: 6 %

These are the highest emissions in earth’s history. Consequently the influence of human activity on climate is evident.

But a number of experts in the IPCC vehemently contradict the predictions: They hold that CO2 is not the primary cause of climate change. Climate change research is useless for such changes have occurred throughout earth’s history without any human interference. The present warming is just a continuation of the earth’s temperatures ups and downs. The fundamental thesis of human activity as cause is wrong. They elaborate:

After the end of the Ice Age some 20,000 years ago the earth saw the Holocene Optimum, a warm period that lasted for 3,000 years from 7,000 to 4000 B.C. It is granted that the few primitive hunters and gatherers lived in perfect harmony with nature and did not cause any damage.

The Medieval Optimum 1100 to 1400 A.D., another warm period, was also not caused by the knights and cathedral builders in Europe and high cultures in Asia, America and Africa. Then temperature fell for about 150 years, what climatologists call the “Small Ice Age.” The ensuing 400 years knew an average of ocean and land temperature of 14 degrees Celsius that only since the 1950s rise again: Nothing alarming, all natural! The present temperature rise is due to changes in the sun’s activity that reduces water vapor content in the atmosphere permitting better access of the sunrays to the surface.

The scientists invalidate these arguments saying that the ensuing of warm and cold periods are not new but well-known school knowledge that has been taken into consideration by them. Temperature rise in history has come about in long lapses of time while the present one comes “abruptly” within few decades.

The “experts” blame those issuing warnings, disseminating panic, and painting the apocalypse for the only reason of getting continued financing of their expensive research expeditions and laboratories and salaries for the teaching of their false doctrines in universities.

Now the scientists use the same arguments saying that the attackers are fake experts hired by interested governments who want to cherish their constituents by promising them continuation of a lifestyle based on high energy consumption and unlimited exploitation of limited resources.

I wonder if President Trump may have paid these experts for delivering him the subterfuge for cancelling the Paris Climate Agreement. False experts of other countries may have subverted the COP25 in Madrid.

Years are lost for decisive action. The longer the rapid pace of global warming is allowed to continue the more costly it will become to prevent the horror scenario of a planet that can no longer nourish mankind.
