You are the books you read

I read somewhere that in five years you are the same person except for the books you read and the people you meet. I tend to believe that this is true which is why over the years, and I suppose that is what one does as they get older, many of us tend to invest more on things that are worth our while, inspire further growth, and at the end of the day, keep things authentic.

A woman like me is somebody who thrives on information. To me, the better the information, the greater the learning. Much of what I do revolves around this and over the years, experience has given me a great amount of learning especially in my job as a communicator.

The best part is, on top of it all, meeting the right people who share the same goals amounts to so much and more. In the world of broadcast where a deep desire for better education became my biggest motivation, communicating programs and alternative ways to learning were and still is something I continue researching about.

Everyday we learn something new which makes things evolve so quickly and finding the right balance to incorporate “the new with the old” is a constant challenge as I am still one who believes in standards and tradition.

This therefore entails constant learning, constant reading and keeping a healthy open mind to information is crucial to what one shares to the public. It is in this regard where “the people you meet” matter as they also serve as a guide to a goal that one wants to accomplish. Learning as we always say is life long – I know I say this over and over as it is simply true and this forms us and to a certain extent changes us as we open up to many different perspectives.

Hence why they say we remain to be the same person but it is what we learn from what we read and who we meet in this life that somewhat changes us. The most important question to ask ourselves therefore is if such changes are all for the better as naturally, it should certainly be.

So bear in mind therefore that what we read and who we meet should be geared to becoming a better version of oneself. In other words, make it count. After all, this has everything to do with the legacy one leaves behind and that makes all the difference.
