This is NFMC bike convention week

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Philippine Star

This is the convention week of the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMC), which will be held at their convention center. All motorcycle clubs are expected to ride to Iloilo City. Those from Luzon can try crossing to Mindoro and take a Ro-Ro Ferry to Caticlan then ride to Iloilo City. Many Cebu clubs are riding via Negros Occidental, through the mountain municipality of Salvador Benedicto then on to Bacolod City, crossing to Iloilo City via a Ro-Ro Ferry. Some Cebuano clubs would take a ferry from the Port of Cebu to Iloilo City then ride to Boracay after the two-day convention.

Our chairman emeritus, Manolete Lamata (Thunderbugs of Bacolod City) wrote this letter for all riders, which was sent via email and through social media. Here’s the letter in full.

“My Fellow Riders: On April 5 and 6, 2019, barely a week from now, we will be holding our 25th annual national convention of the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs (NFMC) in Iloilo City. We cannot overemphasize the importance of this year’s national convention considering that we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of our NFMC. All of us expect a great 25th annual convention and our National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs, which I head as chairman emeritus, is always ready to assist in every way possible to make our 25th annual convention successful.

Iloilo Motorcycle Club, the host club for this year’s 25th annual national convention, has written and requested that our Federation take over the management of hosting this convention in the light of recent developments that hinder their ability to conduct a smooth convention. As chairman emeritus of the NFMC and together with the other VPs/directors, we have agreed to the request of Iloilo Motorcycle Club.

So effective immediately, we hereby declare that our Federation has now taken over the management of the 25th annual national convention in Iloilo City and has appointed Lito Aves – VP/director Visayas, as the new chairman of the 25th annual national convention. Ride safe and we will see you all in Iloilo City on April 5 and 6, 2019 for our 25th annual national convention.
Thank you. – Mr. Manolet R. Lamata, chairman emeritus, NFMC.”

I would like to emphasize to my good friend, chairman Manolete Lamata, that the issue of the size of motorcycle plate number should be taken as the main issue to be tackled in the 25th anniversary of the NFMC. Perhaps we can arrange for the NFMC to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte who was once a member of the “On Any Sunday Riders of Davao City,” so he can listen to what we have to say. Lest you have already forgotten, three years ago the NFMC had then Mayor Duterte as guest speaker for our 22nd anniversary in Cebu and we bikers supported his presidential bid.

Last week was the final week for bringing to the Cebuano voters the senatoriables who are seeking your vote this coming May elections. We call it the Klarohay Ta Mega Cebu Candidates Forum, and last Friday we had Atty. Glenn Chong of the Katipunan ng Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP) party. But before he appeared at the Forum, I had a chance to interview him in my talkshow “Straight from the Sky” which airs in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro this week.

Indeed, since 2010 Atty. Glenn Chong single-handedly attacked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for using the foreign owned Smartmatic voting machines that we have also been exposing. Atty. Chong was one of my sources in my articles vs. Smartmatic. This is something that few people have realized and today we question why even at this time when alleged shenanigans of Smartmatic in collusion with the Comelec have not become a national issue.

If the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) was truly great, people are asking why until now, three years later, we still have a question as to who should be our true Vice President? We are told that it is Leni Robredo, but then, there is the case filed by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, which today remains a cliffhanger?

Proof of the pudding is in the eating, that Atty. Chong’s accusing the Comelec of collusion with Smartmatic has evidence. Atty. Chong told us what happened to his aide Richard Red Santillan, who was ambushed on Dec. 9, 2018. His body was recovered the following day with 30 bullet holes in Chong’s car, which Santillan was driving at the time of ambush. Perhaps the target was Glenn Chong himself. He said that the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) would file charges against 19 rogue cops behind the alleged shootout. Rogue cops killing people who are not even into the drug trade? Now how come the national media has not featured this? Hmmm!
