MANILA, Philippines — TikTok content creators and pet lovers Sai Datinguinoo and Kuya Ching joined the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) pet blessing held at the SM Skydome, SM North EDSA on October 6.

“We used to have a lot of dogs. There were 13 for a time. But we found good homes for them,” said Datinguinoo who is currently left with three huskies: Zyber, Malia, and Snowy.

Although known for her sass and transition videos, Datinguinoo admits that her playful pets also contributed to her TikTok fame, with a current following of 855,000 on the platform.

The 18-year-old creator and YouTuber who hails from Batangas came to interact with other pet parents and their fur babies during the event. As much as she loved to bring her pets, Sai thought it would be stressful for them to travel such a long way.

Roland Kua, popularly known as Kuya Ching, also enjoyed the pet gathering. His dog is named Mocky. He is also a stroke survivor who shared his recovery journey on TikTok.

Sai and Kuya Ching created a TikTok video of their whole experience during the PAWS Pet Blessing, which included an engaging trivia game.

A pet awards was facilitated by celebrity host Tonipet Gaba. Furry and non-furry attendees were serenaded by artists Karylle and Bianca Umali.

This was followed by the moving stories of three shelter dogs, Sierra, Dollar, and Hopia, narrated by Anna Cabrera, executive director for PAWS.

The presentation was an eye-opener that brought to light the cruelty and neglect that some animals experience. The issues of pet abandonment and the rising number of strays were also addressed.

PAWS appealed to choose adoption over buying a new pet.

The pet blessing was facilitated by volunteer priests led by Fr. Joey Paras SBD. A pledge of commitment to pets was recited, which became an emotional moment for owners and their pets.

The event is a joint celebration of World Animal Day and the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment.
