AXN Asia presents its new travel and lifestyle series, My Hometown is G.O.A.T.

There is nothing like going back to your hometown and reminiscing about and rediscovering places that were part of your past and close to your heart.

The new original production My Hometown Is G.O.A.T. by AXN Asia, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT), presents three sets of celebrity adventurers exploring the regions they call home to show audiences what makes these destinations the G.O.A.T., or Greatest Of All Time.

DOT Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said, “We’re encouraging our people to explore new places around the country that they’ve never been to or perhaps revisit an old favorite place and experience it from a different perspective.”

Added George Chien, cofounder, president and CEO of KC Global Media Asia, the network that owns AXN Asia along with Asian content destinations Animax, ONE, and GEM, “With this show, we hope to bring a bit of joy to the homes of our audiences who are unable to travel just yet by virtually taking them along a journey across the Philippines.”

In the six-episode travel and lifestyle series, Megan Young and Mikael Daez headed to Megan’s hometown of Zambales then to neighboring Pampanga and Tarlac to enjoy regional delicacies and learn about the history of these places.

Marc Pingris, along with fellow basketball players JC Intal, Jayjay Helterbrand, and Rico Maierhofer took the long road on his motorbike up to the most scenic spots of La Union, passing by his hometown of Pangasinan.

As they revisit their roots, these celebrity hosts will be telling stories about their childhood and will also show viewers how to travel safely during these times.

The series will premiere regionally in Southeast Asia today, Nov. 4, with episodes coming out on AXN Asia every Thursday and Friday at 8:30 p.m., and on the AXN Asia YouTube channel every following Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. The show will also be broadcast on AXN Taiwan and AXN Korea next Monday, Nov. 8, and next Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Protecting small business during calamities

The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, and when natural disasters and calamities strike, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the most affected, vulnerable segments.

To better protect them during calamities, one of the country’s leading micro-financial services companies, Cebuana Lhuillier, has teamed up with one of the country’s leading insurance providers, AXA Philippines, and the German development agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, or GIZ, to unveil its newest micro-insurance product, the “MicroBiz Protek Jr.,” which will help insure microenterprises against typhoons, floods, earthquake, lightning, and fire for as low as P172 a year!

The new product was introduced at a virtual launch and offers lump-sum cash assistance in case of property damage caused by natural calamities and disasters. Moreover, it offers 10 percent personal accident insurance for two employees, 10 percent coverage for robbery and burglary, and free emergency assistance through the Emma by AXA PH app.

AXA Philippines president and CEO Rahul Hora said, “AXA Philippines is dedicated to sustainability, and we have launched this product in response to the climate and disaster risk that Filipino MSMEs are constantly exposed to. We hope that through this product, Filipino entrepreneurs can now enjoy the protection that they need to sustain their businesses during natural calamities and disasters.”

PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies vice president and group head Jonathan Batangan adds, “With the Philippines being one of the top five in the world most at risk for natural disasters, I think it’s only right to offer such a product to our MSMEs. Hopefully, this is something that we can be able to scale and promote for the protection of the MSME sector.”
