Thorny art in Singapore: Durian seller parodies $120,000 banana art

Agence France-Presse

SINGAPORE, Singapore — After an artist made headlines by eating a $120,000 banana artwork taped to a gallery wall in Miami, a Singaporean durian seller has responds with his own funky art piece.

Last December 7, a performance artist shook up the crowd at the Art Basel show in Miami Beach when he grabbed a banana that had been duct-taped to a gallery wall and ate it.

The banana was, in fact, a work of art by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan titled "Comedian" and sold to a French collector for $120,000.
