Duterte duda sa 'distance learning' sa gitna ng COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Duda si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kahandaan ng Pilipinas na magsagawa ng "online" o distance learning habang suspendido ang mga pisikal na klase.
Ang naturang pahayag ay ginawa ng presidente Huwebes, na kaninang umaga lang inere sa telebisyon.
"Sabi ko sa inyo, walang vaccine, walang eskwela. The technology is there but I don't know if we're ready for that," sabi ni Digong.
"Meaning to say, if we have enough of those na gamitin para sa whole of the Philippines."
Kaugnay niyan, pumasa na sa ikatlo at huling pagdinig ng Kamara kahapon ang House Bill 6895, na magbibigay kapangyarihan kay Duterte iusog ang petsa ng pagsisimula ng school year.

Una nang tiniyak ni Education Secretary Leonor Briones na matutuloy ang mga klase ngayong Agosto, sa kondisyong hindi magkakaroon ng face-to-face classes.
Wika ni Briones, gagamitan muna ng "blended" learning ang mga bata para maka tuloy-tuloy ang pag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng internet, telebisyon at radyo.
"These are all consistent with your preference that we should not be physically sending our children until this is safe to do so," sabi ng kalihim noong ika-28 ng Mayo.
"The first and foremost concern is the health and safety of our learners and teachers. The regions are different from each other. Some have interconnectivity. What we are doing is to translate our curriculum."
Pinapalagan ngayon ng ilang sektor ang nasabing panukala, sa dahilang marami pa rin daw ang walang access sa internet o smartphone sa ngayon.
Matatandaang sinabi pa lang ni Duterte sa pinakahuling ulat niya sa Konggreso na nag-uusap na ang Presidential Communications Operations Office at Department of Health sa posibleng paggamit ng IBC-13, isang istayon ng telebisyon na pagmamay-ari ng gobyerno, para sa pagtuturo ng mga estudyante. — James Relativo
