MANILA, Philippines — There was no indication of foul play in the death of De La Salle University (DLSU) law student Anthony Granada, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla yesterday said an investigation showed that Granada was alone from the time he left Taguig until his body was found in a vacant lot in Barangay Sapa, Naic, Cavite on Saturday.

Authorities said Granada bore no signs of physical injuries or gunshot wounds.

His personal belongings, including his mobile phone and wallet, were intact.

Probers said a bottle of “Liquid Sosa,” a chemical drain cleaner, and a milk tea container were found beside Granada’s body.

“To put everyone at ease, we can conclusively say that number one: this is not hazing and number two: no signs of foul play,” Remulla said at a press conference.

Granada was last seen on June 8 and was reported missing a week later.

Granada’s body, already in the early stages of decomposition, was found on the fourth day of police search and closed-circuit television backtracking.

CCTV footage showed that the student had traveled alone using a ride-hailing service and entered the resort and vacant lot by himself, the DILG said.

Remulla said the family has requested privacy and declined to release further details about the case.

The DLSU Tañada-Diokno School of Law and the University of Santo Tomas mourned the loss of Granada.

He finished Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting from UST in 2023.
