DOTr cracks down on fake NAIA taxi rates

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) yesterday denounced the circulation of fake taxi fare rates reportedly being used by some operators and drivers servicing passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
“We will not tolerate this. The government will go after those spreading fake taxi rates, as well as operators and drivers who overcharge passengers,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said in a statement. “If any DOTr personnel or other government employees are found to be complicit, they will also face consequences.”
The DOTr clarified that the taxi rates circulating online are fraudulent and not sanctioned by the agency.
These unauthorized fare guides, reportedly used at airport terminals, have raised concern from passengers and consumer groups.
The department urged the public to verify taxi fares through official channels and report instances of overcharging.
