Persons of interest in House exec’s slay identified – PNP

MANILA, Philippines — Persons of interest in the murder of an official of the House of Representatives have been identified, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III announced yesterday.
Torre said members of the special investigation task group (SITG) are tracking down the people believed to be involved in the killing of 62-year-old Mauricio Pulhin.
“The manhunt operation is still ongoing. We hope to resolve this case as soon as possible,” Torre told reporters.
He refused to divulge other details about the persons of interest and the possible motive probers are looking into.
“We have leads, but allow me to conceal those information pending the outcome of our follow-up investigation,” Torre said.
Pulhin, chief of technical staff of the House committee on ways and means, was celebrating the seventh birthday of his daughter at the clubhouse of a subdivision in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City when he was shot dead on Sunday.
Two assailants, including the gunman who shot Pulhin at close range, fled on a motorcycle after the attack.
According to sources, the suspects avoided a police dragnet operation by changing their clothes and transferring to another motorcycle.
Torre has deployed police investigators from Camp Crame to assist the SITG in its probe.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla vowed justice for Pulhin.
Remulla appealed to those who have information about the suspects to come forward.
