Another pack of shabu found floating in Ilocos

MANILA, Philippines — Another package containing shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million was found floating in the waters off Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on Monday.
The package was found by a 44-year-old fisherman at past noon near the coast of Barangay Pasaleng, according to a report from the Ilocos region police.
The fisherman brought the package to the shore and immediately informed authorities about his find.
The package was similar to the packs of shabu earlier recovered from the waters of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur and Cagayan, which bore Chinese markings, image of a durian fruit and the number 66, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The illegal substance was turned over to the PDEA-Ilocos Norte for proper disposition.
Earlier, the PDEA said an international drug ring called Sam Gor was behind the packages of shabu dumped into the Philippines’ territorial waters.
The PDEA said the syndicate controls 40 to 70 percent of the illegal drug market in the Asia-Pacific region.
