COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A woman, her daughter and an eight-year-old boy died in separate drowning incidents in Lebak and Kalamansig towns in Sultan Kudarat on Friday.

Maila Pulido, 34, and her daughter Mylene, 12, were on their way home in Barangay Salaman in Lebak when they were swept away by floodwaters.

Responding members of a local search and rescue team tried, but failed to save the victims.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Itew was swimming in a river in Barangay Santa Maria in Kalamansig town when he was swept away by the current.

Local disaster officials urged residents to watch out for flash floods during heavy downpour.
