QCPD hunts down two SUV drivers

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Police are hunting down two motorists who ran over and killed an elderly woman in a hit-and-run incident in Quezon City last Saturday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) condemned the drivers of two sport utility vehicles (SUV) who did not stop after they hit 61-year-old Rosemarie Orcine.

In a closed-circuit television footage the QCPD released to reporters, Orcine was seen crossing the corner of Illinois Street along Aurora Boulevard in Barangay Silangan when a black SUV hit her.

Instead of stopping to help Orcine, the motorist sped off and left Orcine lying on the ground. Another video footage showed the driver stopping farther down the road and getting out of the vehicle, and then driving off.

Orcine was still showing signs of life when a white SUV hit her. The driver also sped away. A third vehicle avoided Orcine and the driver pulled over, but she appeared to have already died.

“We are calling on anyone who has information about the vehicles or the drivers to coordinate with the nearest police station or call QC Helpline 122,” the QCPD said in a statement.
