MANILA, Philippines — A Caloocan police officer allegedly involved in an extortion racket targeting motorists in Quezon City was arrested on Wednesday.

Cpl. Bryan Ong was apprehended in the district intelligence division of the Northern Police District in Caloocan City, according to an investigation report.

Ong and an unidentified cohort were accused of arbitrary detention, robbery with force or intimidation and car theft.

Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, officer-in-charge of the Quezon City Police District, said Ong and a male cohort had been extorting money from motorists.

The suspects’ latest victim was a motorcycle rider whom they illegally detained in Barangay Unang Sigaw on May 17
