2 mpox cases detected in Maguindanao del Norte

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two cases of monkeypox or mpox disease have been recorded in Maguindanao del Norte.
The confirmation of the cases prompted officials of the Bangsamoro region to intensify the information campaign on the prevention of mpox.
Six others have been placed in isolation facilities and under tight medical surveillance for having symptoms of the disease.
Bangsamoro Health Minister Kadil Monera Sinolinding Jr. said the patients are residents of Datu Odin Sinsuat and Sultan Kudarat towns.
“We have mobilized all our health service teams to prevent the spread of monkeypox, especially in neighborhoods where the patients live,” Sinolinding said.
Radio stations and other media outfits in Cotabato City and surounding areas assured the regional goverment of assistance in disseminating information regarding mpox.
