LTO suspends license of cop in road rage

MANILA, Philippines — The driver’s license of a police sergeant has been suspended by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) following a road rage incident in Sta. Ana, Manila that went viral online.
Video footage showed the police officer on a motorcycle pulling out a gun during an altercation with a motorist on May 12.
Amid traffic jams, the policeman confronted a motorcycle taxi rider and kept tugging at his helmet.
Colleagues of the police sergeant arrived at the scene and arrested the rider due to alleged unjust vexation.
A show-cause order has been issued to the police officer, LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said.
Authorities cited the officer for not wearing the standard motorcycle helmet while on duty at a polling center.
The policeman has been instructed to surrender his driver’s license before the hearing at the LTO on Wednesday.
The Philippine National Police has placed the officer under restrictive custody. He is facing administrative cases of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
