MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) has been spotted moving toward the Philippine area of responsibility and may enter the PAR within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA said that as of yesterday afternoon, the LPA was spotted 765 kilometers off General Santos City.

The LPA is not likely to develop into a typhoon, state meteorologists said.

The weather disturbance is embedded in the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which may bring heavy rain over large parts of Mindanao and Palawan.

State meteorologists said the ITCZ may affect parts of the Visayas, including Negros Island Region and Central Visayas as well as the provinces of Leyte and Southern Leyte.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring hot and windy conditions along with isolated thunderstorms over Luzon.
