3 Chinese, Pinoy caught with P4 million unregistered beauty products

MANILA, Philippines — Criminal cases have been filed by the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) against three Chinese nationals and a Filipino who were arrested in Malabon after they were caught with unregistered beauty products valued at P4.27 million.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said complaints for violation of Republic Act 9711, the Food and Drug Administration Act, were filed against the suspects.
The Chinese suspects were known through their aliases Kevin, Leo and Yin. Their Filipino cohort was identified only as Angelito.
The suspects were arrested during an entrapment operation in Barangay Maysilo on April 22.
They allegedly sold acne spot treatment and other beauty products without certifications from the Food and Drug Administration.
Police said 30 boxes of acne spot serum were seized from the suspects.
“We prevented the sale and trade of these unregistered beauty products, which may pose health risks to the public,” Torre said.
Police urged the public to exercise caution when buying health and beauty products.
