Luzon dams’ water keeps dipping amid high temperatures

MANILA, Philippines — High temperatures being experienced in the country have further decreased the water level in eight dams in Luzon.
As of 8 a.m. yesterday, the water level in Angat Dam in Bulacan was at 204.77 meters or down by 25 centimeters (cms) from the previous 205.02 meters.
The elevation is 7.23 meters below Angat’s normal high water level of 212 meters.
Meanwhile, the water level in nearby Ipo Dam decreased to 100.65 meters or down by seven cms from its previous level of 100.72 meters.
The elevation is 45 cms below Ipo’s normal high water level of 101.1 meters.
La Mesa Dam in Quezon City dropped to 79.59 meters from its previous level of 79.60 meters.
Water in Ambuklao Dam in Benguet decreased by 15 cms after it reached 743.39 meters from 743.54 meters previously. The figure is 8.61 meters below Ambuklao’s normal high water level of 752 meters.
Other dams that recorded decreasing water levels are San Roque in Pangasinan, Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija, Magat in Isabela and Caliraya in Laguna.
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System gave assurance that the decreasing water level would not affect supply in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
