The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s 167th Malasakit Center has been opened to serve residents in Tamparan, Lanao del Sur.

The Malasakit Center, which aims to ease the burden of poor and indigent patients as well as provide them access to quality health care, is located at the Tamparan District Hospital.

The program was institutionalized under Republic Act 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which Sen. Bong Go authored and sponsored.

On Monday, Go led the opening of the center in Tamparan along with officials of the national and local governments.

“The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that brings under one roof four government agencies mandated to provide medical assistance to the public. You don’t need to travel far or fall in line in order to access the quality medical care being offered by the government,” Go said during the event.

The Department of Health said that Malasakit Centers have assisted over 15 million people nationwide since the program’s inception in 2018.

“These Malasakit Centers are for all Filipinos, especially the poor and those who have no one to turn to for help, except the government,” Go said.

The newly inaugurated Malasakit Center at the Tamparan District Hospital is the second in Lanao del Sur. The first is located at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.

In a speech, Go thanked Bangsamoro Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, Health Minister Kalid Sinolinding, Tamparan Mayor Muhammad Juhar Disomimba and other officials for supporting and prioritizng the health of their constituents.
