MANILA, Philippines — More than 3.6 million aspiring voters have registered for the midterm elections in May 2025.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported yesterday that it has processed 3,642,176 applications for registration since February.

Calabarzon posted the highest number of applicants with 632,493 followed by Metro Manila with 510,590.

Central Luzon has 422,092 applicants; Central Visayas, 248,193, and Davao, 213,030.

The Cordillera Administrative Region recorded the lowest number of applicants with 47,277; Mimaropa, 92,988, and Caraga, 93,053.

Voter registration is until Sept. 30.

The Comelec had set a target of three million new voters.

While the poll body has met its target, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said nearly five million voters would not be able to participate in next year’s elections.

As of April 15, a total of 4,903,415 voters have been deactivated for failure to vote in the last two elections, loss of Filipino citizenship and court rulings.
