MANILA, Philippines — The franchises of units plying a single route in Angeles, Pampanga will be canceled over an unannounced transport strike, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

The LTFRB said the strike paralyzed the Angeles-Mabalacat-Dau route and stranded commuters.

LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz said he directed the regional office to file a show-cause order against the local transport group.

He said the LTFRB has coordinated with the Philippine National Police to file charges against those who harassed other drivers, including those who put spikes on their vehicles.

Guadiz said members of the local Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide did not notify the LTFRB regarding the strike.

He assured the public that the agency is not stepping on the freedom of expression of operators and drivers. He stressed their commitment to public service should be paramount.
