Architect raped, killed in Davao

DAVAO CITY , Philippines —  A woman architect believed to be a victim of rape was found dead in Calinan district in this city on Wednesday.

The body of Vlanche Marie Bragas, 28, was found covered in dried banana leaves in a plantation in Purok 6 in Barangay Dacudao.

Police said a manhunt was launched for the driver of a tricycle locally known as ombak or bao-bao, who was supposed to bring the victim home.

Initial investigation showed that Bragas texted her mother that she was in a tricycle and on her way home at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The parents of the victim sought police assistance when she failed to come home by midnight.

Authorities said they are also looking for another passenger of the tricycle.

A special investigation task group was created to resolve the killing.
