Man held for robbing TV writer

MANILA, Philippines — Motorists arrested a man who allegedly robbed a writer of GMA News in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Carissa Joyce Reyno, 23, was on her way home when she encountered the suspect, 31-year-old Gilbert Homoc, at the corner of EDSA and Timog Avenue in Barangay South Triangle, police said.

Homoc allegedly snatched Reyno’s cell phone worth P8,000 and fled.

Motorcycle riders and bystanders pursued the suspect after Reyno shouted for help. Homoc was collared along Samar street after a brief chase.

Recovered from his possession was the victim’s cell phone.

Maj. Mike Diaz, deputy commander of the Kamuning police station 10, said Homoc had been jailed twice for illegal drugs.

A complaint for robbery is being readied against the suspect.
