Reward for town cop chief killer’s arrest now P1.7 million
MALOLOS, Philippines — The reward for information leading to the arrest of the killers of Lt. Col. Marlon Serna, chief of the San Miguel police in Bulacan, is now P1.7 million.
San Miguel Mayor Roderick Tiongson put up a bounty of P500,000 on top of the P500,000 raised by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, P300,000 by the Central Luzon police, P200,000 by the Philippine National Police and P200,000 by Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando.
Maj. Norheda Usman, Bulacan police information officer, said probers have two persons of interest and are trying to establish the identity of two other suspects.
Authorities had earlier released the composite sketch of one of the suspects based on the description of one of the victims of a robbery incident in Barangay San Juan, where Serna was killed as he and his men responded.
On Monday, Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director, posthumously awarded the Medal of Valor to Serna and provided financial assistance to his family members.
Fernando is set to visit Serna’s wake yesterday and extend assistance to the family of the slain police official.
A special investigation task group was created to probe the incident.
