Cop kills self accidentally
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A police corporal died after he reportedly shot himself accidentally in Cainta, Rizal on Sunday night.
Cpl. Alex Hernandez, 30, of the San Juan police, was found dead by his brother Alvin at their home in Barangay San Andres.
Hernandez bore a gunshot to the head and his service firearm was found near his body, according to police reports.
Probers said they recovered two empty magazines for a 9mm pistol, 15 bullets and gun cleaning paraphernalia in the room where Hernandez was found.
Alvin told probers that he knocked on the door of his brother’s bedroom to tell him to have lunch with their family.
When no one responded, Alvin said he opened the door and found his brother bloodied on the floor.
Alvin said he immediately called their relatives and reported the incident to the police.
Investigation is ongoing.
