2 dead in Iloilo road mishap

ILOILO CITY , Philippines — A couple died when a truck rammed their tricycle parked by the roadside in Miag-ao, Iloilo yesterday.

Jessie Losada and his wife Veronica, residents of Barangay Rizal Estanzuela in this city, were thrown off their tricycle due to the impact of the crash. They were declared dead on arrival at the Miag-ao Rural Health Unit.

Their companion, Franklin Vargas, was injured and is recuperating in a hospital.

The truck driver, Simplicity Fernandez, 47, told probers he did not notice the tricycle. He faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, serious physical injury and damage to property.
