Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who allegedly fired his handgun indiscriminately was arrested in Quezon City on Monday night.

Cpl. John Teo Agunday, 37, who is assigned with the Marikina police station, was arrested in Barangay Quirino 2-A at around 8:45 p.m.

Probers said the incident happened while Agunday was in a drinking session with his friends in front of a house at the corner of Kaymita and Pajo streets.

A witness told investigators Agunday got irked when his friends had a heated argument.

Agunday walked out and went to his motorcycle, but before leaving the scene, he pulled out his service firearm and fired several shots toward the ground.

He was collared by operatives of the Anonas police station, who confiscated his firearm. Police recovered two bullet casings and two deformed slugs at the scene.

Agunday faces charges of alarm and scandal as well as administrative sanctions from the Philippine National Police.
