ARTA commends Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines — The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has commended the Parañaque City government for being one of the pioneers in promoting ease of doing business in the country.

During its annual compliance inspection, ARTA director general Ernesto Perez underscored the streamlining efforts in the business permit and licensing procedures in the city. The compliance inspection is part of the mechanisms to evaluate local government unit (LGU) performance as required under Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Act of 2018.

Perez recognized the various innovations implemented by the business permits and licensing office headed by lawyer Melanie Soriano-Malaya, specifically its online services to clients in the renewal of business permits and licenses.

“This recognition is a testament to the efforts made by Parañaque to upscale the level of government service to its constituents. As one of the pioneers in doing business, we are optimistic that this will continue to provide inspiration to all LGUs in the Philippines,” Perez said.

Malaya highlighted each process involved to renew a business permit through the Project Express Lane Operation, which has been fully operational since 2018.
