NBI nabs 3 cabbies for robbery
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested three taxi drivers suspected to be members of a robbery group in Manila.
In a statement on Friday, the NBI said its Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division arrested Darryl Eugenio, Ryan Espadero and Ramil Talampas for alleged illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives in an operation in Malate on Nov. 6.
The robbery group used three taxis to target foreigners from midnight to 4 a.m., Friday to Sunday.
The suspects were arrested based on a tip received by the NBI that the group was waiting for victims along Madre Ignacia street corner Quirino Avenue in Malate.
The NBI confiscated a grenade, a loaded pistol and a revolver from the suspects.
