Quezon City provides more laptops to teachers

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has started the distribution of additional laptops for teachers in public elementary and high school in the city.

The city also turned over 50 laptops for child development workers in public daycare centers.

“In Quezon City, we recognize the importance of education so we continuously support our schools, from students to our teachers,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in Filipino.

“We are coordinating with the schools division office and the social services and development department to ensure that we provide enough support to them,” she added.

The city government earlier distributed 5,592 laptops for the city’s public school teachers. It also provided them with free internet connectivity as well as monthly and quarterly allowances.

Public schools also received service vehicles that they can utilize for their activities and programs.

For daycare centers, the city government distributed storybooks, school supplies, hygiene kits, medical supplies and food packs for children.

Handang Magbasa manuals were also given to parents and child development workers to help them teach pupils how to read.

Since the start of classes last August 22, the city government has distributed school supplies to over 450,000 students, including those in special education.

Students from Grades 4 to 12 were previously provided with tablets, with the city government planning to distribute similar devices to Grades 1 to 3 students this year.
