DTI sets price guide for school supplies
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has issued a price guide for school supplies to help consumers in their purchase of school items as classes are set to begin this month.
In a statement yesterday, the DTI said the suggested retail price bulletin for school supplies, which it released on Aug. 12, includes specific brands of notebooks, pad paper, pencils, ballpoint pens, crayons, erasers, sharpeners and rulers.
The prices of notebooks this year range from P17.50 to P36.75 while the prices of grades one to four pad paper vary from P6.50 to P24. Intermediate pad paper, on the other hand, costs from P22.50 to P30.
Pencils and ballpoint pens range from P8.25 to P13.25 and from P4.75 to P19, respectively.
A box of crayons with eight colors costs as low as P18 to as high as P24. A 12-color pack costs P32 while the price of a 16-color pack varies from P33.75 to P44.
Erasers are available in small, medium and large and have a price range from P8.75 to P17.
Sharpeners and rulers are priced at P19 to P32 and P13 to P39, respectively.
