MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited Maasin, Southern Leyte on Thursday to personally provide aid to tricycle operators and drivers.

In his speech, Go thanked tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA) members for their hard work to provide for their families and make available public transport, especially during the COVID pandemic.

Together with his team and Sen. Robinhood Padilla, Go led relief operations at a covered court in Barangay Combado. They distributed relief items, such as grocery packs, vitamins, face masks, meals and shirts, to 500 transport workers.

Select recipients received phablets, shoes, watches and bicycles as well as volleyballs and basketballs.

Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance while the Department of Trade and Industry conducted assessment of qualified recipients who can be provided livelihood support.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority evaluated potential TODA members who may qualify under its scholarship programs.

Go advised those with health concerns to visit the Malasakit Center at the Southern Leyte Provincial Hospital.
