Cagayan village chief shot dead

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A barangay captain was was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men in Piat, Cagayan on Wednesday.

A police report identified the victim as Robert de Ocampo, 50, chairman of Barangay Anurturu in Rizal town.

Capt. Isabelita Gano, Cagayan police information officer, said De Ocampo was driving his Isuzu Elf with his wife Leonora when unidentified men blocked their vehicle in Barangay Gumarueng and shot him several times.

Leonora was injured when their vehicle rammed an electric post as her husband lost control of the wheel.
