MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted off Eastern Samar yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The weather system was estimated at 365 kilometers east of Catarman as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

It has a slim chance of developing into a storm in the next two to three days, but will likely bring inclement weather in the Visayas, Bicol, Palawan, Zamboanga peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Caraga, according to PAGASA senior weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.

Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, and the Visayas are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and low-pressure area.

Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and localized thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides during heavy rain.
