Soccsksargen kasambahays to get pay hike

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Domestic workers in Soccsksargen will get a salary increase, according to the National Wages and Productivity Commission.

The NWPC reported yesterday that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) approved an increase of P500 in the minimum monthly salary of domestic workers or kasambahays in the region.

With the increase, the minimum monthly salary of domestic workers in cities and first class municipalities in Soccsksargen will be P4,500 and P4,000 in other areas.

The RTWPB said kasambahays should be paid at least once a month without deductions other than those mandated by law.

The new wage order does not allow any exemption. Employers who fail to comply with the wage order will face sanctions.

The NWPC said domestic workers across the country will receive salary increases as all RTWPBs have issued wage orders granting pay hikes.
