PCG promotes 9,075 personnel
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) promoted yesterday more than 9,000 non-officers.
“This is the biggest promotion in the history of the PCG,” Coast Guard commandant Admiral Artemio Abu said.
He said 9,075 of the 23,000 PCG personnel were promoted.
Sixty-five others were promoted from the rank of ensign to lieutenant junior grade, and from LTJG to lieutenant.
Abu said the promotion of the PCG personnel was in recognition of their hard work.
“Upon consultation, we found out that there are available slots for promotion. There is sufficient funding for this purpose. The promotion uplifts the morale of PCG employees,” he said.
Among the newly promoted PCG personnel are 19 master chief petty officers, 74 senior chief petty officers, 256 chief petty officers and 431 petty officers first class.
