3 rob suspects nabbed in General Santos

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — Three suspected robbers were arrested at a checkpoint in this city before dawn yesterday.

The suspects – identified as Vincent Salazar, John Lei Frasco and Christian Caspillo – were tagged in a series of armed robberies in several barangays in this city, according to Col. Paul Bometivo, General Santos City police chief.

The suspects were on two motorcycles when they were apprehended by a police team that set up a roadblock on Conel Road in Barangay San Isidro.

The roadblock was prompted by reports that three men in separate motorcycles robbed at gunpoint a resident in nearby Barangay Bula.

Seized from the suspects were a .38-caliber revolver, grenade, three plastic sachets believed to contain shabu and the motorcycles.

The suspects were detained at the city police detention cell.
