LPA monitored off Eastern Samar

MANILA, Philippines — Another low-pressure area has been monitored off the coast of Eastern Samar.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather disturbance was monitored around 170 kilometers east of Borongan City as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Palawan.

PAGASA said it is unlikely that the weather system would develop into a tropical cyclone as it may dissipate in the next 24 hours.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience isolated rains due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said flashfloods and landslides are possible due to at times heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard suspended all trips to Siargao yesterday amid heavy rain, strong winds and power interruption on the island.

The PCG said all vessels were not allowed to leave after PAGASA issued a weather forecast at around 4 a.m. yesterday.
