Robbery suspect slain in Pampanga ‘shootout’

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — A motorcycle rider said to be involved in a robbery in Mexico, Pampanga was killed in an alleged shootout with operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Thursday.

Reports reaching Col. Alvin Ruby Consolacion, acting Pampanga police director, said CIDG agents caught up with the suspect and his cohort, who have yet to be identified, in Barangay Panipuan.

The backrider, who reportedly fired at their pursuers, fell from their motorcycle and was killed in the exchange of gunfire.

A manhunt for the companion of the slain suspect is underway.
