MANILA, Philippines — Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.’s subsidiary Cavitex?Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) and its joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority have deferred the collection of higher toll at the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) R-1.

The CIC said the new toll rates for the CAVITEX R-1 segment would be implemented starting May 22 instead of last May 12.

The move will give public utility drivers (PUV) and operators time to register in the toll reprieve program that will allow them to continue to enjoy the old toll rates through a rebate program.

“All PUV operators and drivers?have to?do is enroll their account to the program in coordination with?their transport organizations,” the tollway firm said.

The program will run for 90 days starting on?the first day of the implementation of the new toll rates.

Starting May 22, the toll for Class 1 vehicles using CAVITEX R-1 segment (Cavitex Longos Bacoor to MIA Exit and vice versa) will be charged P33 from the current P25, P67 for Class 2 vehicles from the current P50 and P100 for Class 3 from the current P75.

CIC said the new rates are inclusive of the 2011 and?2014 periodic toll petitions as well as add-on toll petition for enhancement works along the expressway, including bridge lane widening works.
